  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 teaspoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 1 cup Cold Butter
  • 1/2 cup Grated Apple
  • 1 cup Chilled Buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (for glaze)
  • 3 tablespoons Honey (for glaze)
  • pinch Salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and spices until well combined.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently fold in grated apples and chilled buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface; gently knead about five times and roll out to a thickness of about ¾ inch.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While biscuits bake, mix chilled butter with honey and salt for the glaze.
  9. Brush warm biscuits with honey butter glaze immediately after removing from the oven.
