Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, canola oil, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture, stirring until combined. Gradually incorporate the remaining flour until you form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for one hour.
  4. Punch down the risen dough, divide into 16 pieces, and roll each into a 12-inch rope. Shape them into bones by cutting slits and twisting.
  5. Place breadsticks on a greased baking sheet and allow to rise again for 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) during the last rise. Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush warm breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan cheese before serving with marinara sauce.
