  • 46 medium croissants
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: ½ tsp espresso powder or 1 tsp orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Tear croissants into chunks and layer half in the dish; sprinkle with chocolate chips and add remaining croissant pieces.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour custard over croissant layers, pressing gently to soak. Let rest for 15–30 minutes.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
  6. Cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing; garnish as desired.
