Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 tbsp black cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup Halloween M&Ms
  • 3 tbsp Halloween jimmies
  • Candy eyeballs for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, black cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with light brown and granulated sugars using an electric mixer until fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  4. Add egg yolks and vanilla extract; mix until pale and fluffy (another 2 minutes).
  5. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture on low speed until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the Halloween M&Ms and jimmies using a rubber spatula.
  7. Using a cookie scoop, portion out dough balls onto the prepared sheets, spacing them apart. Decorate with additional M&Ms and candy eyeballs.
  8. Bake for 10-11 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft. Cool on baking sheets for five minutes before transferring to wire racks.
