  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 33.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 34 tablespoons water
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 23 teaspoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, granulated sugar, salt, vanilla, spices, and the foamy yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Stir in raisins and gradually add flour until it forms a soft dough.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth; let rise in an oiled bowl covered with a towel until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough; divide into 12 pieces and shape into balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Pipe crosses on each bun using a paste made from flour and water.
  8. Bake for about 22 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar with maple syrup and milk; brush over warm buns.
