  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (or soy sauce)
  • Crescent roll dough or puff pastry strips
  • Black olives (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, diced onion, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into an 8-inch rectangular loaf on the prepared baking sheet. Spread ketchup over the top.
  4. Cut crescent dough into strips and layer them crisscross over the meatloaf like mummy bandages.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Remove from oven and place olive slices for eyes; return to bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving with extra ketchup if desired.
