Ingredients

Scale
  • 2.0 to 2.3 pounds of oranges (about 4 medium)
  • 1 lemon (zest and juice)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 4 cups granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly wash the oranges and lemon, scrubbing the peels.
  2. Cut off the ends of the oranges and halve each one, then slice into small pieces, discarding any seeds.
  3. In a food processor, pulse the orange pieces until finely chopped.
  4. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine chopped oranges, lemon zest and juice, water, and sugar; stir well.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 30-35 minutes until thickened. Test doneness by pouring a spoonful onto a cold plate—it should gel slightly.
  6. Once cooled to room temperature, transfer the marmalade into jars or containers for storage.
