Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce or alternative
  • 1/2 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • Sweet potatoes for topping

Instructions

  1. Begin by peeling and chopping sweet potatoes into chunks. Boil in salted water until tender (about 15 minutes). Drain and mash until creamy; set aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté onion until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add garlic, carrots, and celery; cook until softened.
  3. Stir in the ground lamb; cook until browned. Mix in tomato paste, thyme, rosemary, cinnamon, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, broth, and peas. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the lamb mixture evenly in a baking dish and top with the creamy sweet potato mash. Use a fork to create texture on top.
  5. Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let cool slightly before serving.
